- This is beta software, which means it has not yet been fully tested in
- the real world. Accordingly, all necessary caution must be exercised
- when using it. Necessary caution includes keeping a backup copy of the
- message bases SqTool modifies, and monitoring messages written by
- SqTool.
-
- It has been reported by several users that SqTool does not behave
- properly when run on a system that does not run OS/2's WPS. There is
- no foreseen solution to this problem.
-
- Comments regarding the documentation are extremely encouraged.
-
- Possible problems :
- -------------------
-
- * Processing of the AREAS.BBS file may be incorrect, specially for those
- which include unsupported message bases type (only Squish and *.msg
- are supported). The aka information in the AREAS.BBS file is not used,
- since it appears that only a 3D information is mentioned even on a
- point (4D) system.
-
- * Kludge lines of more than 254 character will be cut when reading
- messages.
-
- * A special care should be paid to the kludges generated in messages
- written by SqTool, and to addresses in the header fields. Depending on
- the kind of area written to, various kludge lines are generated, which
- should be checked. Potential problems may lie in answering to an
- EchoMail message into a NetMail area, or answering accross networks.
-
- * SqTool does not allow two instances of the same kludge (ie two
- "REPLY:" kludges, etc.)
-
- * Some error and warning messages may be unclear. Please report
- misspelled, incorrect or otherwise weird error messages.
-
- * Since, as far as I know, *.msg message bases provide no locking
- mechanism, I strongly discourage you to access the same *.msg base
- from two sessions (running whichever program, including but not
- limited to SqTool) at the same time. On the other hand, Squish bases
- should behave nicely.
-
- * Country-specific information should be watched. Depending on the
- COUNTRY setting in your CONFIG.SYS, different formats are used for
- time and date displays (specially in the log file), etc.
-
- * Running external commands is done through the command processor, which
- is determined from the COMSPEC environment variable. I can't imagine
- why this could be a problem, but let me know if it is.
-
- * Anyone encountering "Run Error #10" when executing external commands
- through a filter ("Action Execute..."), please get in touch with me.
-
- * The SOUP import/export feature should be considered "very beta". As
- such, please proceed with care and report anything weird.
